Korean residences tend to be more Spartan than those conventionally encountered in North America. But Korean residence is much westernized and teachers adjust easily. Typically, you will have a studio or you may share your residence with another foreign teacher(s).
The typical shared accommodation consists of a shared living room with kitchen, an entrance area, two-three bedrooms, and a shared bathroom. Floors are covered with linoleum or wood, rather than carpet, because the radiant heating system consists of hot water pipes flowing beneath the floor.
These apartments may be in either medium-rise or high-rise buildings (in the cities).
Furnishings usually include western-style beds and living room sofas, TV's, linens, a fan, and kitchen utensils, in addition to such basic appliances as a refrigerator and a hot plate. Sometimes a VCR is also provided.
